Running a hotel right by the forest naturally brings a certain closeness to nature – the question is simply what you make of it. Over the years, this has led to a few decisions that might not be immediately obvious from the outside but are woven into the fabric of the entire hotel: geothermal energy instead of fossil-fuel heating, electricity generated on our own roof, and laundry that doesn’t require a delivery van because it\u2019s washed right here on-site.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t make a big show of this; it is simply the way we have operated for years. At a time when energy costs have risen and supply chains have become less reliable, this was less a matter of making a statement for us and more a matter of common sense. The added benefit: you sleep in a room that is warm in winter and pleasantly cool in summer, without a skyrocketing gas bill. And when you spread honey from our own herb garden onto your morning roll or drink coffee from our in-house roastery, you know it hasn’t traveled far to get there.<\/p>\n

In our hotel by the forest, 3 heat pumps<\/strong> ensure that the geothermal heat obtained with them heats our hotel rooms pleasantly in winter and cools them down accordingly in summer. The temperature obtained reaches our hotel rooms via underfloor heating and a modern air conditioning system.<\/p>\n

Since 2020, the use of a combined heat and power plant<\/strong> has greatly reduced the need for external energy. With a rated output of 50 KW and an overall efficiency of up to 92%, the CHP contributes to a balanced energy mix. The waste heat from the CHP is used, among other things, to heat the dryer in our in-house laundry.<\/p>\n

The photovoltaic system<\/strong> installed on the roof of the Haus am Wald also makes a large contribution to covering the electricity requirements of our entire company. The 134 solar modules produced over 45,500 kWh in 2022.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n

With our in-house laundry \u2013 with washing machines with a capacity of up to 63 kg \u2013 we have created a solution to be able to work quickly, flexibly and independently and at the same time make an active contribution to environmental protection. Having an in-house laundry eliminates the need for external transport, and waste heat from our combined heat and power unit heats the wash water.
\nSustainability, an elementary principle that is also reflected elsewhere in the laundry.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the detergent dosing systems are used for optimal regulation and thus for the protection of resources.<\/p>\n

The heat from our CHP is used with the help of a heat exchanger to heat the washing machines and dryers.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n
